#fixed500 : Spirit of the Festive 500

This is the third year I have done the Strava challenge : Rapha Festive 500. Two years ago I did most of the mileage in 3 big rides. Last year I got sick and didn't complete the mileage and this year I decided to just be consistent and chip at the distance everyday with my track bike. 73,000 pedal strokes, no brakes, on 49x15 ratio. I love this challenge and am looking forward to the next one too! Enjoy!

Although the jersey is mostly black, the premium material breathes great and stays cool. This jersey is lightweight and the fit is super tight, I love it. I wear this jersey when I want to go fast and stand out.

Size small feels perfect for me
I have two Bikeinside.cc jerseys and really like how hey fit and feel. I broke out a flexible ruler to size upto the chart and ordered size small. I am really happy I can confidently pack my pockets without worrying about my belongings bailing out. I highly recommend this jersey for the best fit and rad design. Get it here:

I love riding on Mount Soledad. I love it because you can enjoy great climbing with and ocean view. You would not expect to find much varied terrain in La Jolla, especially in the winding roads on the mountain side. This route was originally shown to me a few years back by my friend Julian (Julian GSAA on STRAVA)

i am addicted to riding bicycles. I am starting this blog to document my cycling experience. i want everyone in the world to know the pleasure two wheels can bring.

something that i think took me from an ENTHUSIAST to an addict was group rides. The people, the energy, and the fellowship that grew was better than any drug. I am going to document group rides i participate in.

when i am out on a ride near a cool shop i usually stop in and say hello. when possible I like say hi to the owners. bike shop owners are rad, the quirkier the better. I love seeing what they have in stock and how they display it. I feel like every shop SPECIALIZES in something and i will share a little info about em' here too.

Riding a ton puts alot of strain on the gear I use. I am going to write product review for the stuff I use because If i am USING it than its either the best or good enough for my needs. I break alot of the stuff I use. I have had a few frames warrantied for cracking (one track bike cracked in the chainstay after I descended Mount Helix Brakeless) I have had lights, SPEAKERS, and GPS cOMPUTERS warrantied because the innards vibrate apart on my track bikes stiff cockpit. Last year I got a new Carbon ROad bike with 11 speed 105... poor thing needed a new bb and rear wheel (killed the hub) after 2000 miles and a serious headset adjustment. basically i am hard on the stuff i use so if you ride hard or ride alot than you might like what I have to say.

APRIL IS AROUND THE CORNER AND THAT MARKS THE START OF TRACK SEASON ON THE VELODROME. EACH WEEK I WANT TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE THERE. RACE RECAPS, RACER INTERVIEWS, LOTS OF BIKE PORN. TNR AT THE SAN DIEGO VELODROME IS ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL.

Being in the bike industry lets me see some cutting edge EQUIPMENT that i will share with you as well. I call it bike porn, you know it, all those crazy parts we cant afford but want to see... When I get a chance to see something that gets me goin I will surely share it here.

MY WORDS ARE MY OPINION, I AM SORRY IF I OFFEND YOU. this is an experiment and a constant work in progress. please if you have any suggestions or comments leave them below.

    Who is bojac?

My whole life revolves around the two wheeled human power multiplier that is the bicycle. My name is Jacob Abrantes, better known as Bojac (an anagram for Jacob) I am 27 years old and I ride bicycles in San Diego, California. I have been commuting, no joke, since I was 4 years old. Now as an adult, bicycles are my life. I try to ride as much as I can, my favorite place to train is Mount Soledad in La Jolla. I try to foster cycling in everyone that I meet, almost everyday I make another rider out of an ordinary person. Cycling is my therapy; my bike is my therapist. Bikes saved my life and gave me a purpose. Bicycles can save the world. blah blah blah lets ride!
